14th President of India Ram Nath Govind was born on 1 Oct, 1945 ( Age 71 ) in Kanpur Dehat, Uttar Pradesh, India.
Family Background of Kovind's :-
Father - His father named Maiku Lal Kovind was a farmer.
Mother - Kalawati Kovind
Wife - Savita Kovind ( Married on 30 May 1974 )
Daughter - Swati Son - Prashant Kumar
* Bachelors degree ( Graduaction ) in commerce and a LLB from DAV College, (affiliated with Kanpur University)
* After graducation kovind went to Delhi to prepare for civil services exam. He tried his luck & dedication towards target and finally on third attempt he got success. He is being selected for allied services instead of IAS that's why he didn't join and started law practice.
* Enrolled as an advocate in 1971 with an bar council of Delhi.
* He was Central Goverment Advocate in Delhi High Court from 1977 - 1979
* Member of Central Goverment Standing counsel in supreme court from 1980 - 1993,
* In his tenure he provided free legal services to weaker sections of society, women and poor under the organization Free Legal Aid Socienty New Delhi.
* Also serve as personal assistant of Prime Minister of India Moraji Desai in 1977-1978
Poltical Career :-
* He joined BJP in 1991
* He was president of the BJP Dalit Morcha between 1998-2002 as well as President of the All India Koli Samaj.
* He has been spokesperson of the BJP party, donated his ancestral home in derapur to the RSS.
* Contested assembly election from Ghatampur and Bhognipur, Uttar Pradesh on BJP ticket but unfortunatly he lost both elections.
* Then he elected and became Rajya Sabha MP from Uttar Pradesh state in Apr, 1994.
* He was a Rajya sabha member from 1994 - 2006 continues for 12 years .
As a Rajya Sabha member he serverd on -
1. Parliamentary Committee for Welfare of Scheduled Castes/Tribes
2. Home Affairs
3. Petroleum and Natural Gas
4. Social Justice and Empowerment
5. Law and Justice.
6. Chairman of the Rajya Sabha House Committee.
7. Under M.P. L.A.D. Scheme, he focused on education in rural areas by helping in construction of school buildings in Uttar Pradesh and Uttrakhand.
8. He visited Thailand, Nepal, Pakistan, Singapore, Germany, Switzerland, France, the United Kingdom and the United States on study tours
Other :-
He has also represented India at the UN and addressed the United Nations General Assembly in October 2002 for Board of management of Dr. B.R Ambedkar University, Lucknow and Board of Governors of IIM Calcutta.
Governor :-
The President of India appointed Kovind as Governor of Bihar On 8 Aug, 2015 and took oath as 36th Governor of Bihar On 16 Aug, 2015.
He is now nominee of 2017 Presidential Election in India. He has been resigned from his post of governor of Bhiar.
